PASTOR MWITA AND THE WORK AT YOWE

A young man from a remote village, named Yowe, was living in Dar Es Salaam for a time and was a member in pastor Mwita's church. However, after a while he had to return to his village where he also had farming land to attend to. This young man's name is Nestor. After returning to his village of Yowe, which is deep into the hills beyond Morogoro city, Nestor invited pastor Mwita to come and preach the Gospel in Yowe. Pastor Mwita immediately took up this offer! (As I mentioned elsewhere, pastor Mwita has a great heart for preaching the Gospel and he is invited to hold evangelistic missions in other cities of Tanzania.)

Pastor Mwita had to travel about 6 hours by bus and then two hours pillion on a motorbike through the bush and hill country to get to Yowe. What is a wonderful testimony to the grace and love of God, is the sheer joy with which pastor Mwita gives himself with all his energy into the work of the Lord! On this first visit, several people turned to the Lord and were baptised and so a little church was formed, and Nestor became the pastor. This took place last year (2019). This year another member of pastor Mwita's church, called Fortunatus, went to do a week's teaching there, and in July of this year pastor Mwita held an even larger evangelistic mission in Yowe, where 22 people responded to the Gospel and 17 people were baptised.

During that week, one of the believers donated a plot of land to the church, which is right by the village centre. The little church had constructed a grass structure on pastor Nestor's farming land about a mile from the village. This had been burnt down by certain 'opponents' of the work, so the believers simply built another one - though these structures are rather weak. However, after having had this land donated within the village, the church members immediately put up a a makeshift wood structure with plastic covering to meet at. It is amazing to see how this work has grown in the last year! Please pray for pastor Nestor and the work at Yowe.
